Mark 10:32-45; Matthew 20:17-28; Luke 18:31-34, TBC Book Two, Chapter 75 The time had come—Jesus made it clear that he would travel to Jerusalem for the Passover Feast. Those who walked with him were amazed and frightened. Surely Jesus knew how dangerous this would be. There were Jews in Jerusalem who wanted to take his life. The crowd of people who followed Jesus had put their faith in him—only the Messiah could raise a dead man back to life! Still, they feared what would happen when they reached Jerusalem. At one point, Jesus took his twelve disciples aside and spoke to them privately. He explained what was about to happen. This wasn’t the first time he had spoken like this. “When we go to Jerusalem,” Jesus said, “the Son of Man will be betrayed. The chief priests and the religious teachers will hand me over to the Gentile authorities. I will be mocked, and spit on, and whipped. Then they will kill me. But after three days, I will rise from the dead.” None of his disciples knew how to take this news. . . . (See THE BIBLE CLICKS, Book Two, Chapter 75, for the rest of the story.) A proverb to guide you: Following Jesus is a journey, not a destination. Stay the course. A promise to cling to: “Everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of.” 1 Timothy 3:12-14 NIV A praise to fill you: Blessed Be Your Name Matt Redman [Can skip ad after first 5 seconds] Comments are closed.
