Matthew 11:1-20; Luke 7:18-35, TBC Book Two, Chapter 46 After Jesus sent out his twelve disciples, he too began to travel from town to town, but he remained in the region of Galilee. Jesus cured the many who came to him with all kinds of sicknesses and diseases. . . . Many others heard about these things. Among those in the crowd were the disciples of John, the Baptist. John’s disciples ran back to Herod’s palace to see John, who was in prison. They told him the latest news about Jesus, but they spoke with disappointment. Though they did not say it, they thought, If he really is the Messiah, why is John still here, rotting in prison? Perhaps John thought the same thing. He had been in prison now for many months. Calling two of his disciples near him, he said, “Find Jesus and ask him if he is the Messiah.” So the two men traveled until they found Jesus. When they finally made their way through the crowd, they said, “Rabbi, we have a message from John, the Baptist: Are you the one who was to come as the Messiah, or should we expect someone else? . . .” (See THE BIBLE CLICKS, Book Two, Chapter 46, for the rest of the story.) A proverb to guide you: Every journey of faith passes through a tunnel, a dark night of the soul. A promise to cling to: ”Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials . . . [because] the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4 NIV A praise to fill you: We Fall Down Bob Carlisle [Can skip ad after first 5 seconds] Comments are closed.
