Numbers 11:1-34, TBC Book One, Chapter 45
The Israelites had no idea that someone was listening in on their conversations. Now that the tabernacle was completed, their enthusiasm was dampened by a new realization—they must continue to travel through the desert. As they journeyed onward, the people started to complain among themselves about the hardships they faced.

This was the very thing the Lord feared would happen, that his presence would be taken too lightly. . . . So the Lord struck the edge of the camp with fire. . . . But some people had learned nothing from God’s fiery warning.

“If only we had meat to eat!” they complained. “In Egypt we had fish, cucumbers, melons. . . . We’re sick of this manna! . . .”

Their complaining began with a few families in every tribe, but it soon spread like wildfire throughout the entire camp. . . .
