227 The Golden Calf

Exodus 32:1-35, TBC Book One, Chapter 41
Something must have happened to Moses. Many days had passed since he climbed Mt. Sinai to receive the rest of God’s commandments. The people began to wonder: What if he does not return? What if Moses has been consumed by God’s wrath?

A large group gathered around Aaron. Someone shouted: “If Moses were coming back, he would have been here by now. I say we should continue our journey. ”

“How would we know where to go?” Aaron said. “It is the Lord who has led us so far.”

“Then let us make new gods who will go before us!” someone cried out.

So Aaron . . . took all their jewelry, melted it down, and shaped it into a golden calf. . . .
