217 A Time to Mourn

From the moment Israel felt his son’s warm embrace, God poured new life into his soul. Who would have guessed that 130-year-old Israel would enjoy 17 years in Egypt? The years Jacob had lost in mourning for Joseph were replaced with the joy of being a grandfather to Joseph’s sons.

With each year that passed, Israel wondered if if it it were his last. So one day, he decided to send for Joseph. . . . Israel then called all his sons and prophesied over each of them. . . . When he finished speaking, Israel breathed his last, and God gathered him to his forefathers. . . . 

With the time of mourning completed, Joseph’s brothers feared for their lives. What if Joseph decided to retaliate? So they made a plan. . . .
