Genesis 21:1-34, TBC Book One, Chapter 15
At the age of 90, Sarah gave birth to a son. . . . When he  was a toddler and would be weaned, Abraham held a great feast. . . . Everyone was having a wonderful time, until Sarah noticed Ishmael mocking little Isaac. . . . The feast was barely over when Sarah told Abraham what Ishmael had done. “Get rid of that slave woman and her son! Never will he share my son’s inheritance.”

Abraham felt as though a dark cloud were hanging over his head. . . . But in the midst of his turmoil, he could hear the Lord: “Do not worry, Abraham. [Sarah] is right in saying covenant will be kept through Isaac. Do not be afraid for Ishmael.”

Early the next morning, Abraham took some food and a flask of water and gave them to Hagar as he sent the two of them away. . . . They wandered in the desert until they ran out of water. . . .
