189 The Beginning of Sin

Genesis 3:1-24, TBC Book One, Chapter 3
Of the animals the Lord God had made, the serpent was certainly the slyest of them all. Perhaps that is why an evil spirit named Satan hid himself inside the serpent’s body. Satan was the most beautiful angel God had created. He was also the most powerful, appointed as arch angel to rule above the others. But something had changed all that. Satan had rebelled against the Lord. And now, this fallen angel stared with keen interest, watching the new creature God had made.

Eve stood in the middle of the garden, staring at the trees. . . . In the middle of the garden God placed “the tree of life” and “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” As Eve stared, the serpent edged near. . . .
