Acts 13:43-52; 14:1-7, TBC Book Two, Chapter 135 On their first Sabbath in Perga, when those in the congregation were dismissed, many Jews and Gentiles (converts to Judaism) followed Paul and Barnabas, eager to hear more from them. As they dispersed to their homes, they continued to discuss Paul’s words—that Jesus was the one foretold of in the Scriptures, that God had raised Jesus back to life, and that this message was meant for everyone. In less than a week, that news spread throughout the whole city. When people gathered at the synagogue the next Sabbath, the turnout was overwhelming. Almost everyone in the city, both Jews and Gentiles, came to hear the word of the Lord. The Jewish leaders were stunned and taken aback. Clearly this large gathering was in response to the two visitors who had joined them last week, and that rankled the synagogue leaders. Moved by jealousy, the Jewish leaders began to speak derisively of Paul and Barnabas. . . . (See THE BIBLE CLICKS, Book Two, Chapter 135, for the rest of the story.) A proverb to guide you: Conflict is not a sign of failure. Sometimes it signals the greatest success of all—our spiritual foe feels threatened. A promise to cling to: “There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.” Proverbs 6:16-19 NIV A praise to fill you: Be Alright Evan Craft, Danny Gokey, Redimi2 [Can skip ad after first 5 seconds] Comments are closed.
